Travel training on New Jersey Transit
Travel training on New Jersey Transit
Visions @ Emerson students rode the rails and learned to navigate the New Jersey Transit public transportation system. This group was exploring travel safety habits to independently utilize public transportation in their community. The students planned their trip, read the maps, used the ticket kiosk system, and successfully found their way to the Hoboken Terminal travel hub. There they explored the different commuter rail lines, the NY Waterway Ferry system, the Path (Port Authority of NY/NJ) lines, the light rail system, as well as the bus terminal. They problem-solved their way through a variety of real-life transit scenarios and familiarized themselves with the many different transportation options available to them. They even were able to ask some career related questions to one of the train engineers. This group is working toward traveling independently, safely, and confidently in their neighborhoods.
