Welcome to Visions Paramus Middle School

  • The Visions Middle School Program, located in Westbrook Middle School in Paramus, specializes in students with physical and/or multiple disabilities in a barrier-free school. Our program has amazing 5th-8th grade students who spend part of their day in a learning environment designed to maximize inclusion opportunities in a traditional middle school setting.

Our school day includes Therapeutic and Assistive Technology supports to optimize student participation and success. The greatest part of the Visions Program is that our students are able to socialize, learn and grow within a large middle school setting while getting an individualized education based on their specific needs.

Students in the Visions Program take part in general education academic classes and specials at West Brook with peers in their individual grade levels and, although they may move around the school in a different way or have some cool equipment, they are just like all of the other spectacular students at West Brook.

We look forward to our year here at West Brook and thank all the students and staff for making us feel at home.

    PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year!!

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the VISIONS Integrated Middle School Program located in the barrier-free Westbrook Middle School in Paramus. Our innovative program for students with multiple disabilities affords children in grades four through eight the opportunity to learn in an inclusive environment. Alongside their grade-level peers, students receive the intensive instructional adaptations, assistive technology, augmentative communication, and environmental supports they need to ensure academic success in a typical school setting. Our ultimate goal is for each student to work to his/her potential, while still feeling part of the school community.

Our curriculum is aligned to the grade-level New Jersey Student Learning Standards. Instruction is provided by highly-trained and experienced staff, who work collaboratively with the general education faculty to ensure an optimum educational program for each and every student. In addition to academic subjects, students receive speech, occupational, and physical therapies, as dictated by the IEP.  Our students are provided with all the support needed so that their everyday school experiences allow them to be full members of our school community.  Please contact us for additional information.

Program Features

    • ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

Students in our Visions Paramus Programs benefit from cutting-edge educational assistive technology. With online access to innovative literacy and math platforms, they engage in interactive lessons that are not only effective but also enjoyable. Our dedicated BCSS Assistive Technology Team collaborates closely with teachers and students to ensure consistent access to the full curriculum—both in our Visions classrooms and in general education settings.

      INCLUSION OPPORTUNITIES

All Visions students take part in inclusive general education experiences. These opportunities may include special area classes such as Art, Music, Physical Education, STEM, and Dance, as well as core academic subjects—promoting both social and academic growth across a variety of settings.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING and ADVOCACY PROGRAMS

As part of our curriculum and commitment to students’ emotional development, Visions Paramus students take part in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons. These lessons help students build the knowledge and skills needed to understand and manage emotions, form healthy relationships, and make responsible decisions—both in school and in everyday life.  Our Advocacy Program teaches student that they "have a voice" in their educational process, as they learn all about their rights in education, the IEP process, and how to ask for accommodations and modifications they are entitled to in order to reach their goals.
