    The mission of the Bergen County Special Services School District (BCSS) Resource Center is to serve individuals with disabilities from infancy through adulthood as a central point of contact for guidance and connection to accessible and appropriate resources.

    Provides assistance to families in accessing the public and private resources available to people with disabilities and their families. The Options Publication includes information on support programs, advocacy, education, recreation, financial assistance, and practical parent tips.

    The lead provider of services for people with developmental disabilities in N.J. DDD contracts with private agencies throughout the state that provide an array of community living services, including Real Life Choices and residential services, to people with disabilities.

    Community-based, consumer-driven, non-residential organizations that help break down the physical, social, and attitudinal barriers that prevent individuals with disabilities from achieving their desired independence and participation in community life. Services are generally free of charge and include referral, peer counseling, independent living skills training, advocacy, and a variety of services based on the needs of the population.

    Provides a variety of services to individuals with disabilities of employable age. Eligibility is generally based on the presence of mental or physical disability that is a barrier to employment, and a reasonable expectation that the division’s services will help the person with the disability to become employable.

    NJ Transit’s para-transit system provides service comparable to the local bus service. This curb–to-curb service is specifically for those whose disability prevents them from using the local fixed route bus service.

    Each county operates a para-transit system to serve its seniors and residents with disabilities. An application process must be completed before service can begin and advance notice is necessary in order for transportation to be arranged. Services provided vary by county.
