The 6th grade social studies class is learning about the Boston Massacre. Since there are two sides to every story, the class conducted a mock trial of Thomas Preston, the British officer in command of the troops that killed five colonists. We had lawyers and witnesses for the defense and the prosecution as well as a jury charged with making an impartial decision. The students conducted research so they could play their parts accurately and really get a sense of what life was like in the days leading up to the American Revolution.
