We received a special visit from the Bergen County Sheriff’s K-9 unit. The K-9 officers Jax and Dakota showed the students how they use their sense of smell to find dangerous explosives that could be hidden in a building. The students enjoyed how the K-9 officers were rewarded by getting to play with a favorite toy after alerting to a find. It was interesting to learn that these K-9 officers go through a lengthy training period with their human partner and how the K-9 officers know the difference between work time and family time. Thank you to Officers Mike, Dave, and Aret for taking the time to educate us about the important work these K-9s do to keep us safe.
