Welcome to the Bergen County Academies
The Bergen County Academies (BCA), is a free public career technical high school of choice for Bergen County residents located on the Dr. John Grieco Campus in Hackensack, New Jersey. The school offers seven specialized programs in the areas of mathematics and science, engineering and design, medical science, business and finance, culinary arts and hospitality administration, visual and performing arts, and technology and computer science.

Dear BCA Students and Families,
On behalf of our administration, faculty, and staff of the Bergen County Academies, I welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year. As always, we are committed to assisting students in becoming lifelong learners. The Bergen County Academies has a rich history, a caring community, and a spirit of innovation that permeates our campus. We are proud to provide amazing opportunities through rigorous academics, career and technical education, on-campus research, global experiences, the arts, as well as a vast number of extracurricular activities and athletics. I encourage all students to take advantage of the opportunities we provide.

Money Inc. names the Bergen County Academies #3 in the Nation as one of “The 50 Best Public High Schools in the U.S.”
BCA’s campus features specialized facilities including nanotechnology labs, performing arts spaces, and biotechnology research equipment rarely found at the secondary education level. The school maintains an impressive college placement record, with graduates regularly attending Ivy League and other elite institutions.

Governor Murphy Congratulates BCA’s Samsung State Winners On February 24, 2025, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy called the Bergen County Academies to congratulate students on winning the Samsung State Competition. The Governor discussed the importance of new technologies and wished them all the best in the upcoming national competition. The students were thrilled with the recognition by the Governor.

The latest Niche rankings of the best public high schools in New Jersey have just been released and Bergen County Academies (BCA) in Hackensack came in at the top of the site’s 2025 list. Consistently ranked among the best high schools in the country, the free public magnet high school for Bergen County residents offers seven specialized programs in mathematics and science, engineering and design, medical science, business and finance, culinary arts and hospitality administration, visual and performing arts, and technology and computer science.

Two BCA Teams compete in Global Investment Competition
Congratulations to our two BCA team who have been selected as semifinalists in the 2024-2025 Wharton Global High School Investment Competition! They are among the top 50 teams out of the more than 1,800 student submissions from 66 countries around the world that move on to compete in the final rounds.

Bergen County Academies Recognizes 5 Regeneron Scholars
The Bergen County Academies proudly acknowledges our five students who have been named as Scholars in the Regeneron Science Talent Search. Esat Acikgoz of Fairlawn, Belen Franco de la Matta of Northvale, Carolyn Huo of Allendale, and Riyashi Varia and Isabella Maria Zelaya Alves, both of Rutherford, were among the 300 students chosen from nearly 2500 applicants.

Bergen County Academies has been named the state winner in the 15th annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow national STEM competition. The team from Bergen County Academies explores the development of a wearable AI-assisted navigation device to improve the safety and independence of people with autism

BCA Students win at National FFA Competition
BCA Students win at National FFA Competition Recently the BCA chapter of FFA attended the 97th FFA Nationals Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana. More than 70,000 students attended the annual National FFA Convention & Expo from around the country. BCA students took home medals in the following areas: Environmental and Natural Resource Systems, Food Products and Processing Systems, Plant Systems, Animal Systems, Power Structural and Technical Systems, and Food Science and Technology. Congratulations to everyone involved!

26 BCA Students Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
Bergen County Academies had 26 students named as National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) Semifinalists. There were more than 16,000 Semifinalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring.

Four BCA Students Named National Coca Cola Semifinalists
2025 Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Semifinalists. The Semifinalists from Bergen County Academies are Chloe Cho of Englewood Cliffs, Jonathan Plavnick of Ramsey, Christine Seo of Old Tappan, and Isabella Zelaya Alves of Rutherford, New Jersey. Only 1,336 Semifinalists were chosen among more than 105,000 applicants this year because of their outstanding leadership, academic achievements, and dedication to their community.

BCA Student earns Silver Medal at the International Math Olympiad Marvin Mao recently earned a silver medal at the International Math Olympiad held in Bath, England, Marvin Mao competed as a representative of Canada, his native country.
