• Biology Research & Cell Culture Boot Camp

     

    CELL BIOLOGY RESEARCH 

    Course Description

    Cell Biology Research offers students in the experimentation phase of their projects a great opportunity to continue their research in a low stress environment, free of concerns of attending classes, preparing homework, taking exams, or any of the many other challenges during the school year. 

    Capacity: 24

    Location: Rooms 213 & 224A

    Instructors: Dr. Sabio & Ms. Baffo

    **PLEASE NOTE** Although Dr. Smith will not be instructing this summer, her students are still welcome to attend either program and work with one of the other mentors.

    Cost: $630 for the entire 4 week session. Fee will NOT be prorated or refunded if attending less than the full session. Students must commit to at least 2 weeks of attendance.

    Eligibility: current BCA students (class of 2025 - 2027) enrolled in the midday, independent ~Cell Biology Research elective (NOT the period 9 Research in Cell Biology elective) with one of the mentor teachers. ALSO - students must have a completed research plan and project materials already on hand. Rising seniors (class of 2025) who are applying to the Regeneron Science Talent Search will have priority in registration.

    Schedule: one continuous session for 4 weeks, 4 days per week from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

    CELL CULTURE BOOT CAMP

    Course Description

    Cell Culture Boot Camp is designed for students who are still in the development phase of their project and have not yet been trained in cell culture techniques. This is a 2-week intensive course on the principles and practice of working with cells in culture, preparing solutions, treating cells and performing assays. This program is designed for students who are currently developing their research plan and/or waiting for project materials to arrive and want to learn cell culture and continue developing their project before next school year. Two identical sessions will be offered. 

    Capacity: 10 per session

    Location: Room 176

    Instructor: Mrs. Waldron

    **PLEASE NOTE** Although Dr. Smith will not be instructing this summer, her students are still welcome to attend either program and work with one of the other mentors.

    Cost: $525 for a 2-week session. Fee will NOT be prorated or refunded if attending less than the full session. Students must commit to at least 6 days of attendance.

    Eligibility: current BCA students (class of 2025 - 2027) who have completed at least one trimester of the midday, independent ~Cell Biology Research elective (NOT the period 9 Research in Cell Biology elective) with one of the mentor teachers.

    Schedule: runs as 2 separate sessions, 2 weeks each, 4 days per week from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

    • Session 1: June 25-28 (M-R) and July 1-3, 5 (M-W, F)

    • Session 2: July 8-11 (M-R) and July 15-18 (M-R)
