From the Assistant Superintendent's Desk
Welcome to the Bergen County Institutes for Science and Technology website!
Students who applied for September 2024 admission to The Bergen County Institutes for Science and Technology will be receiving emails in February regarding group interviews which will take place in February and March. The interview is an important part of the admissions process. It gives those of us on the admissions committee a chance to speak with each of our applicants and it gives our applicants a chance to tell us something about themselves and why they would like to attend this program. It also gives students an opportunity to meet some of the teachers and administrators in the program, as well as some of their future classmates. The group interviews take place over Zoom.
It’s always exciting for me to meet each new group of Bergen Tech applicants. Students who apply to the Institutes, as well as to our other campuses, are bright, personable, and creative individuals. It has been my pleasure to converse with our students during the admissions process and share in the enthusiasm and interest they show in their chosen program of study
For seventh-grade students and their parents planning ahead for the Class of 2029, I encourage you to explore our website, view our videos, and visit the Northern Valley Regional High School website for information on academics, clubs, and sports.
The Bergen County Institutes for Science and Technology offers two technical concentrations. Sports Medicine and Exercise Science is a four-year sequence of courses involving the study and application of the scientific principles that underpin physical performance, and will incorporate the traditional disciplines of anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, sport psychology, athletic training, and nutrition. Students will cover a range of topics and carry out experimental investigations in both laboratory and field settings to acquire the knowledge and understanding necessary to critically analyze human performance, optimize athletic output, and minimize injury.
If you are a student who is interested in graphic design, digital art, website and/or social media design, the Institute for Interactive Design Technology, now in its fourth year at NV, is for you! Our students explore topics including Logo Design, Digital Drawing, Color Theory & Color Perception, Smartphone App Design, Virtual Reality, and much more.
If you have any questions, please email us at nvrhsadmissions@bergen.org.
Stay well!
Sincerely,
Andrea Sheridan
