Welcome to the Bergen County Institutes for Science and Technology!

Our first class from the Institute for Interactive Design Technology will be graduating this June. We are so proud of each and every one of them. It takes a dedicated and self-confident student to apply to a high school program that will require them to leave their towns and the classmates they have known to pursue their interests. These students have successfully completed their courses and are ready to embark on their next journey. Here are some of the schools our students will be entering in the fall: The New School, Pace University, Emerson College, University of Mount St. Vincent, Montclair State University, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, Indiana University-Bloomington, McGill University, Bergen Community College, NYU, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, NJIT, Rowan University, Purdue University-Main Campus, Duquesne University, Harvard University, Northeastern University, University of Rochester, University of Scranton, San Diego State University, Johnson & Wales University-Providence, Wellesley College, and Washington University-St. Louis. We wish them all the best in college and beyond!

For those students who are considering applying to the Bergen County Institutes for Science and Technology, we invite you to familiarize yourself with our programs. We offer students two program choices: Interactive Design Technology and Sports Medicine and Exercise Science. Both of these programs are offered on the Demarest and Old Tappan campuses of the Northern Valley Regional High School District.

Sports Medicine and Exercise Science is a four-year sequence of courses involving the study and application of the scientific principles that underpin physical performance, and will incorporate the traditional disciplines of anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, sport psychology, athletic training, and nutrition. Students will cover a range of topics and carry out experimental investigations in both laboratory and field settings to acquire the knowledge and understanding necessary to critically analyze human performance, optimize athletic output, and minimize injury.

Interactive Design Technology is for students who are interested in graphic design, digital art, website and/or social media design. Our students explore topics including Logo Design, Digital Drawing, Color Theory & Color Perception, Smartphone App Design, Virtual Reality, Advertising and Marketing, and much more.

The application site for students applying for the 2025-2026 school year will open in September. Please visit our website in late summer to see the official opening date for applications as well as the deadline for submission of applications. Be sure to read the User Manual before beginning your application; it has

step-by-step instructions to help you successfully complete the application in full. We urge you to view the informational videos of our exciting programs available on our website. I also encourage prospective students to look at the admissions booklet to get an idea of the many courses offered in the program, and to check out the Northern Valley Regional High School website to see the vast array of academic courses, clubs, and sports that are available to students attending the Bergen County Institutes of Science and Technology at Northern Valley Regional High School.
