Bergen County Technical Schools Adult & Continuing Education (BCTS Ed.) is grateful to have had the opportunity to provide extra financial support to our qualifying Full-time Day Program students during this pandemic. In April of 2020, the federal government passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) is a portion of the CARES Act that allocates emergency relief funding that addresses the pressing needs of eligible students due to the disruption of the school’s operations.
BCTS Adult Ed. made an agreement with the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) to administer at least 50% of the $76,107 funding we receive to provide emergency relief to an estimated 57 qualifying Full-Time Day Program students.

Active full-time day students that were eligible for the 2019-2020 Federal Pell Grant and/or have been financially affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic received a onetime lump sum of the CARES Act funding. Receiving funding was based on the level of need for the students' submitted 2019-2020 FAFSA and/or financial need due to the pandemic under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. The final allotment was made available in September 2020. Qualifying students were mailed a letter providing them with an explanation of the funding and when to expect payment. Each qualifying student was distributed an equal amount of $1,335.21 mailed to the address indicated in our school’s records.

If you have any questions regarding the emergency relief funding, please email Mr. Victor Lynch, Principal at We, BCTS Adult Ed. continues to wish you well, and we hope that this financial assistance will provide some support to you and your family during these challenging times.
