Susan Jakob

Ms. Susan Jakob began her career with Bergen County Special Services in September 1985.  During her 34 years at BCSS, Ms. Jakob has worked solely at the Nova North Program at Emerson Junior/Senior High School where she taught a variety of subjects with a major focus on math and science.  Ms. Jakob has worked tirelessly over the years dedicating her time and effort to her students with an emphasis on instruction.  Her planning and instruction were impeccable.  Her expectations for her students were always to achieve a level of success which would prepare them for the outside world.  Ms. Jakob received the Governor’s teacher recognition award in 1988.

A team player, Ms. Jakob served as an excellent liaison between the Emerson staff and BCSS.  She worked with the office staff, guidance counselors and general education teachers thus cementing a bond between BCSS and the Emerson personnel.  She effortlessly worked on scheduling, student attendance, change of schedules and parental notifications. She has worked as a mentor to student teachers as well as assisting new teachers entering the program.  Ms. Jakob set high standards for her students as well as for herself.  Her passion, integrity and skill as an outstanding teacher will be sorely missed.

The Bergen County Special Services School District and Board of Education would like to thank Ms. Jakob for her years of dedication and wish her a long, happy and healthy retirement.
