Ms. Barbara Costagliola began her career with Bergen County Special Services in 1982 as a special education teacher. In 1985, Ms. Costagliola took some time to raise her 3 children, and returned to our district in 1991 as a teacher in the Behavioral Continuum. She worked closely with mainstream teachers on inclusion and co-teaching models that benefited all of her students. Ms. Costagliola was awarded the teacher of the year award, a special recognition acknowledging her hard work and dedication.
In 2006, she transferred to the Educational Enterprises division as an inclusion specialist. Ms. Costagliola has successfully provided PD workshops for educators, and has consulted with numerous districts on best practices for students in inclusive environments. She also worked closely with our post-secondary counselors on EE contracts for transitioning students, and in recent years has also worked with teachers and case managers as they look to open and maintain transition programs in various districts. Ms. Costagliola was also assigned as an APA and DLM coordinator for BCSS for a number of years, and has provided insurmountable support to our curriculum coordinator as we look to a establish a new on-line system.
The Bergen County Special Services School District and Board of Education would like to thank Ms. Costagliola for her years of dedication and wish her a long, happy and healthy retirement.
