Academic Excellence and Deaf Peer Connections

SHIP middle school students were selected to represent SHIP Midland Park in an annual math competition at National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID). The students prepared with their Teacher of the Deaf, Ms. Murphy, practicing various concepts and complex problem-solving puzzles. Finally, after months of preparation, they embarked on a long trip to Massachusetts for the annual math competition! Accompanied by their coach Ms. Murphy, the team arrived at their destination and received a warm welcome from the NTID Math Committee and met other deaf and hard-of-hearing students from across the United States and even Canada!
This trip was a wonderful experience for the students; they worked hard to achieve an academic goal, gain exposure to college, travel training, and make new friends from various cultural backgrounds. SHIP SHIP HOORAY!
