Full “S.T.E.A.M” ahead at Visions Paramus
Our High School students in our Visions @ Paramus High School Program have completed a number of S.T.E.A.M. activities that incorporate a love for learning, and meeting academic standards. These hand-on projects include elements of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, and are highly creative and engaging!
The creation of these projects are a result of the collaboration between our AT specialist, Ms. Farrah, and our High School teacher, Ms. Hansen. As they plan these tasks, they look to provide instruction that allows for student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end result is experiential and collaborative learning, as well as some really cool projects that the students absolutely love being a part of!
So far this year, the students have worked on “Symmetry and Snowflakes” ,”Erupting Lemon Volcanoes”, “Wax-Resist Spider Web Paintings”, “Dissolving Candy Corn”, and “Zombies and the Day of the Dead Portraits”. All of the above projects included scientific topics like structure and matter, using scales, animal adaptations, and chemical reactions. Elements of geometry and art were also part of these STEAM lessons, and culminating activities included the use of technology tools, like google slides, smart notebooks, and a number of innovative educational apps. Students look forward to these exciting, hands-on, educational experiences every week!
