Welcome to Bogota Program
The Bogota Program, located at the Bogota Junior/Senior High School, educates 7th- and 8th-grade students who are academically challenged and require additional support in a mainstream general education environment. Assisting students with multiple disabilities, the Program focuses on developing educational and motivational strategies to best serve each student’s individualized academic and social needs. The Bogota Program offers self-contained special education classes and general education classes with in-class support, and is specifically designed to assist students in transitioning from self-contained classrooms to the least restrictive environment.
The students in the Bogota Program face demands and academic and social challenges that make it difficult for them to succeed in a traditional general education setting. This program strives to continually strengthen the student’s academic abilities through individualized instruction, small group lessons, and one-to-one assistance while focusing on learning gaps, communication skills, and behavioral management.
The Bogota Program's mission is to work collaboratively while integrating within a mainstream setting. The classroom offers cutting-edge technology which is incorporated into all interactive lesson planning. The Bogota setting offers a sense of security, community, and familiarity for the students as the gap between special education and general education grows smaller.
In order to meet the needs of the students, Bergen County Special Services has supplied the Bogota Program with a full-time teacher and two paraprofessionals, as well as an array of support personnel that includes the following:
- Computer Technology Specialist
- Learning Consultant
- School Psychologist
- Student Assistance Counselors
- Behavior Management Specialist
- Teacher in Charge
A Message from the Principal
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year. We are looking forward to a school year filled with opportunities to provide our students with experiences that will influence their social, emotional and academic growth. The Bogota Program is based out of Bogota Junior/Senior High School. The focus of the program is to provide our 7th-12th grade students with a traditional middle school and high school experience. This is achieved by providing our students with the academic, therapeutic and behavioral supports they may need to be successful. Due to the school setting, many opportunities are available to our students. These opportunities may include mainstreaming, utilizing technology to help meet academic goals, and participating in traditional middle school and high school activities.
At the Bogota Program, we pride ourselves on the ability to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate life after high school. Therefore, my staff members work closely with students, families and local districts to assure transition goals are implemented and achieved.
We are looking forward to another successful school year as we continue to support the needs of all of our students.
